In today’s culture, it can feel like sports dominate nearly every part of family life. Weekends are filled with tournaments, travel schedules stretch late into the night, and the drive for scholarships or recognition can overtake even the most balanced home. Parents and students alike often feel pulled in conflicting directions between commitment to their sport and commitment to their faith. But here’s the truth: sports themselves are not the problem.

Parenting in today’s world can feel overwhelming. Between cultural pressure, digital noise, and the constant comparison that comes with social media, many families are left asking the same question: How do we intentionally build a Christ-centered home when everything around us seems to pull in the opposite direction?

The teaching profession appears headed for a crisis. According to the National Association of Independent Schools, the number of bachelor’s of education degrees awarded fell from 176,000 in 1971 to only 90,000 in 2021, a 49 percent decrease in 50 years. Of the approximately four million K-12 teachers in the US, about 8 percent (320,000) leave the profession annually. A quick subtraction equation yields a stark reality: each year far more teachers leave the profession than enter it.
